Welcome to the WMS LANDSCAPE IRRIGATION TRAINING web page of Water Management Specialists! You are about to walk down a road that will ultimately lead you to becoming a Texas Licensed Irrigator. Water Management Specialists is here to help you on your journey. WMS has been providing quality irrigation training since 1988. In fact, we were part of the group that initially developed the irrigation training program that was implemented at the Junior College level in 1988. We were one of the first instructors that the state approved when the State of Texas took over the training of irrigators in 1996. We again are one of the first to be approved by the State for the new training requirements that went into effect on May 1, 2003. Our manual, Basic Irrigation Systems and Design , has gone through many changes. It started out as a 285 page manual that was approved as a "stand alone" manual for use by instructors for the basic training program. It has grown and kept pace with the industry. It is also approved by the TCEQ to be used as a "stand alone" manual for use by newly approved instructors of Basic Training. This latest version, which will be released in November 2008 is over 600 pages! IIt will address all of the changes the TCEQ made in the irrigation rule changes which become effective January 1, 2009. This will make it one of the most, if not the most comprehensive irrigation manuals on the market today. This manual is filled with technical information that you will use through out your career. Although others may claim they have a comprehensive manual, upon inspection and after the filler and "note" pages are removed, the technical information is validated, they simply come up short. The author, Kurt Hall, has several copyrighted design techniques that will assist the irrigator in the design process. This manual will serve you well for the basic training course and more importantly will become an invaluable tool in your roads of travel in the irrigation industry. This manual is used by other instructors, colleges, state institutions, and of course by Water Management Specialists as their course manual. We understand that in a free market society competition is good. We encourage competition, as it gives our students and clients something to compare us to. Our mission statement is simple: "We provide the most current and up-to-date training in the irrigation industry.....period." Our approach to training irrigation comes from twenty years experience in the Landscape Irrigation Training industry. No one else can even come close! The TCEQ has provided a minimum list of standard items that must be addressed in all training menus. They do not list the maximum or determine any level of training except the minimum. Water Management Specialists will never settle for the minimum for any of our clients. We constantly strive to set the highest standards possible. To that effect, listed below are some key areas that we focus on. Take a few moments to look at them and Dare to Compare between WMS and the competition. Our Basic Irrigation Systems and Design workshop includes:
What we will not do....
1. One, we do not know what is on the test, as it is a State Exam. 2. Two, we teach the basic fundamentals of irrigation. If you can understand these basics, then you are prepared for any thing the state can throw at you.
COURSE COST The course cost is $575.00. This includes the manual, software, and support. To hold a space in the class, a $250.00 deposit is required. The book is available in advance if you would like to make those arrangements. Contact the office to ask questions. How to register for a WMS Basic Irrigation Training Workshop To proceed with steps 2 and 3 you will need to click on the BISD Schedule and pick a class date that fits your schedule.
