Nov 27                Houston                                                 8 CEU's                    Irrigation Design Utilizing Software                                                      $195.00  

This class will demonstrate how computer software can aid the irrigator in irrigation design process.  This process will allow an irrigator to reduce their design times substantially as well as increasing the accuracy of the design.  The software will allow the irrigator to deploy the automatic mode, where it will do the majority of the calculations.  It can also be deployed in the manual mode where the irrigator picks and chooses what part of the irrigation design they would like assistance on.  The software will calculate safe flow rates of the water source, select the backflow device, calculate the most perfect head spacing, create balanced irrigation zones, size the valves, provide a complete ET based irrigation schedule, and provide a complete hydraulic statement.  There are many more features to list here.  The class will utilize an LCD projector to display all the items and techniques.  We will discuss the entire design process as defined by the TCEQ.  If you are not into the computer technology phase of irrigation, this will still be an excellent overview of the irrigation design process.  If you have a laptop, bring it and your can the program on your laptop to follow along in class.  There is no requirement for you to bring a laptop. 

Nov,28               Houston                           48 CEU's                            Basic Irrigation Systems and Design - CEU-Class                                                            $195.00

**This course will work for CEU's for any of the days.  The 27th,28th,29th are the best days for CEU's

This class is the hydraulics section of the Basic Irrigation Systems and Design Class.

This section will focus on hydraulics.  We will be doing multiple hydraulic exercises and heavy emphasis on the charts used in hydraulics.  (Pipe, meters, backflow, and valves)  We will be doing pipe sizing, component sizing, velocity calculations,  "Design Pressure Calculations" and "Actual Head Pressure Calculations".  This will be an excellent review for those who have not performed hydraulics on a regular basis.  Bring a calculator and an engineer scale.  All other materials will be provided.

Nov,29               Houston                           48 CEU's                            Basic Irrigation Systems and Design  - CEU-CLASS                                                            $195.00

**This course will work for CEU's for any of the days.  The 27th,28th,29th are the best days for CEU's

This class is the hydraulics section of the Basic Irrigation Systems and Design Class.

This section will focus on the design section.  We will be discussing designing with sprays, rotors, rotators, and drip.  We will utilize looped mains and elevation issues in the process.  We will design  12 plus zone system with elevation issues, low pressure issues, and will utilize spray, rotor, rotary, and drip irrigation product.  We will design around non linear property lines.  This will be an excellent review of design techniques.  Will use any product you desire, but it must be a real product and the final design parameters must comply with the minimum standards of the TCEQ.  We will develop an ET based irrigation schedule to match the design created.

We will review the minimum standards of design as per the TCEQ. Bring design challenges for discussion.

December 4,5,6,11,12,13               Moody                           48 CEU's                            Basic Irrigation Systems and Design                                                              $575.00

**This course will work for CEU's for any of the days.  The 11th,12th,13th are the best days for CEU's

This forty eight (48) hour class is a pre-requisite for those individuals who are wanting to become a licensed irrigator.  This class covers all of the elements in the landscape irrigation design process.  It addresses the key items that are on the TCEQ tests on; Design, Hydraulics, Backflow, and General Irrigation Knowledge.  The attendees will do at least three designs in the class plus the exit design provided by the TCEQ.  Hydraulics is stressed in the class, as this is the statistically most failed section of the exam process. There will be several comprehensive hydraulic problems that the student will have to solve. This will ensure they fully comprehend Hydraulics and the associated components.  This will also provide the student with "snap shot" of their understanding of hydraulics.  The class utilizes the 585 book "Basic Irrigation Systems and Design".  The instructor for the class is also the author of the book.  Each student will be provided with additional homework and support after the class is over.  This class is also approved for CEU's for current licensed Irrigators.  This class is a 48 hour course so we will have extended hours during the five days.

Dec 7                       Austin                                                      8 CEU's                Drip Irrigation Design                                                                           $195.00  

This class will demonstrate effective methods to design utilizing drip irrigation.  We will look at the key components of a drip system and how they are different from conventional.  We will look at multiple applications for drip in both turf, shrubs, and trees.  We will discuss limitations of drip and where drip is not the best solution.  We will design a small system utilizing drip in shrubbery, turf, and trees.  We will discuss the calculations of determining  GPM/GPH of a zone as well as calculations for  determining the precipitation rate as well as run times for each application of drip.  We will discuss the primary differences between pressure compensation and not pressure compensation.  We will discuss the use of bubblers verses drip, drip tape, and single source emitters.  We will discus multiple different strategies for drip in a design as well as address the most common complaints and issues when drip is utilized.  We will discuss the difference and applications for single source emitters verses in line emitters.  The specific problems of backflow as it relates to drip will be addressed.

Dec 14               New Braunfels                                                 8 CEU's                    Irrigation Design Utilizing Software                                                      $195.00

December 18th         Ft. Worth                                             8 CEU's               Central Control                                                                                                         $195.00  

The class will focus on the irrigation application of Central Control. This will be both a primer on the fundamentals of Central Control and will address the key elements of what makes a Central Control a Central Control.  We will look at both the conventional systems and "Two-Wire" systems and explain the difference as well as look at pros and cons of each type.  We will discuss the many methods of communications available for central control including the multiple new "APPS" that are available for smart phones.  We will discuss all the key components such as pulse decoders, weather stations, N.O. (Normally Open) valves, N.C. (Normally Closed) valves, flow sensors, pressure sensors, and moisture sensors.  We will discuss the key element of grounding and differentiate between "Earth Ground" and grounding associated with basic electricity.  We will discuss the use of a Megger and the many different methods of obtaining a solid ground.  Electrical wire connections will be discussed.

December 21st                               Houston                        8 CEU's                            Advanced Design II                                                                                  $195.00

Albeit there is no pre-requisite for this class, we will get deep into the design process and the TCEQ rules and regulations for Design.  Looped mains, multiple water sources, pumps, drip, elevation, backflow, and component selection with high and low water pressure will be discussed.  We will do an irrigation design in the class that will utilize the concepts and techniques we discussed in the class.  Make sure you bring a calculator and scale to this class, as you will put them to use.  Bring your questions and your problem children to this one.

Up Coming Classes Pending Approval from TCEQ                 8 CEU's               Irrigation System Measurements *** Pending Approval                          $225.00  

*** This class is pending approval from TCEQ, In the event the approval is not received, an approved CEU class will be approved.

This class will address multiple methods of obtaining site measurements for irrigation design projects.  This will be for residential, commercial and institutional.  We will use multiple methods for obtaining this data ranging from a physical site visit taking measurements, data provided via others such as surveys, and data obtained via the internet such as "Google Earth" and other software, and technology such as drones.  We will discuss the pros and cons of each method as well as what tools and equipment will be needed.  We will generate a plot plan utilizing each of the methods previously listed.  We will use basic drafting tools and computer technology for each so that the information can be gained and plot plan generated with our without design software.  We will address and utilize basic math formulas to determine slopes, square footage, and cubic footage.  A companion software package will be used with the training program and is included with the class.

 Up Coming Classes Pending Approval from TCEQ                8 CEU's               Irrigation Maintenance Check List - Automated                                              $250.00  

******* The class is pending approval.  If TCEQ approval is not obtained by the time of this class, an approved class will be substituted.

This class will address the TCEQ mandated "Maintenance Check List".  This class will utilize software to create and generate a complete "Maintenance Check List".  We will discuss what products types need maintenance and then what specific maintenance that they will require.  In most cases there are multiple options, we will discuss these options.  The irrigator will ultimately make the decision as to which is the best scenario for their situation.  We will discuss the key elements of the system including backflow certification, irrigation scheduling, and the "As Built".  We will discuss options of using GPS to locate all the key components of the irrigation system.  The software will allow for the input of this data. The software will generate an annual ET based irrigation schedule exceeding the TCEQ minimum requirements.  Options such as "Maintenance Contracts and Extended Warranties will be discussed.  The software utilized in this class is provided with the class.  To purchase it without attending the CEU class, contact our office or visit our website.
